Devika

It can be well stated that race of success is always self-proclaimed; it’s up to an individual to decide when to stop running or to always be in the chase of excellence. Devika sets a perfect example for the same.

Devika is a student of Class XI from GSSS Girls- Lakkar bazaar, Shimla, Himachal Pradesh, a partner Government school under the Satya Bharti Quality Support Program. She is an adopted daughter of her parents (mother 67 years old and father is 70 years old). Their monthly family income is Rs 1,200 only. They struggle to make ends meet for her family of three. Despite her family’s vulnerable economic conditions, Devika proved that no obstacle is too great to stop your will to succeed.

Driven by a strong will and determination, Devika used to study 12 hours a day straight for her class X board exam preparation while studying in GHS Kaithu, Shimla (partner Government School under the Satya Bharti Quality Support Program). With all her hard work and dedication, Devika secured 1st rank in her class X board exams conducted by HPBOSE, scoring 617 marks out of 700 (88.14%). Despite every hurdle, Devika excelled in studies and landed in the prestigious Government school of Shimla (GSSS Girls –Lakkar Bazar).

Devika embarked on a journey of success and has reached the first milestone.

“All this was possible because my parents, school teacher and team Bharti Foundation believed in me, guided me always, supported me and stood alongside in every situation. The activities that Bharti Foundation organized in our school played a very important role in my success and helped me in honing different skills. I was the Head Girl of the school and the sectary of the Science club which also helped me in building leadership qualities”, said Devika.

Devika’s mother is elated with pride and says, “After having lost two sons, I have seen situations that I hope no one ever has to face. Devika came to my life as a bright shining stars and lit up our lives. She has always been a very responsible girl who has also excelled in her academics throughout her school. The school teachers have stood by Devika’s side all the while.”

Someday, Devika wants to become a Biologist but currently, she is making great efforts to achieve her next goal – being in the list of toppers of class XII examinations.

Devika has proved that hard work is not dependent on circumstances; keeping faith is the stepping stone of the journey to success. Her achievements are shining examples of determination and single-minded focus.
