Aiming to provide free quality education to underprivileged children, with a special focus on girl child education, Bharti Foundation instituted its Satya Bharti School Program in Haryana in 2008. It established its first Satya Bharti School in the village of Budha Khera in Kaithal district.
Today, 38 Satya Bharti Schools are functioning in the state that includes schools in Kaithal, Kurukshetra, Rewari, Mahendergarh and Jhajjar districts. More than 5,000 students are being provided free and quality education in these schools. Most of the children belong to families of the lower economic strata, primarily occupied as daily wagers or as agricultural laborers.
Each school emphasizes on experiential learning and takes the idea of education beyond classrooms. The curriculum in the schools not only follows academic sustenance, but also a range of co-curricular and community-level activities that hone holistic development of every child. These activities ranges from annual celebrations to bal sabhas, house activities, language weeks, celebration of important days, school excursions, participation in external competitions, and more.
One of the main principles of the schools is also to instil a sense of social involvement, by helping children create links within their community and village. With the help of teachers, students of Satya Bharti Schools in Haryana have involved themselves in multiple community development campaigns, addressing various social issues.
