May, 2020: During the period of 14 days that was officially declared as Summer Vacation for schools in Himachal Pradesh, Bharti Foundation organized the Satya Bharti Skill Fest (Summer Camp from home) for the students of over 50 Government schools in the state.
The five day long Fest was a collaboration of an array of competitions that were designed for activity-based learning, encouraging the students to bring out the best of their creative and innovative side. The activities that were a part of the fest included calligraphy, poster making, best out of waste, slogan writing, creative writing, etc., on different topics relating to the pandemic such as ‘A Special Thanks to Corona Warriors’, ‘Life after COVID 19’, ‘My Lockdown Diary’, etc. The Fest was structured keeping in mind the scholastic and co-scholastic development of the children and was virtually conducted.
The Satya Bharti Skill Fest 2020 acted a perfect platform for a healthy competition between students from different schools, and was much appreciated. The children created mesmerizing and thought-provoking paintings, narrating the life of a common man during the nationwide lockdown. They felt connected to their peers from other schools, and believed that the fest helped them in identifying their hidden talents and exploring their passion as well.
The State Project Director of Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan congratulated the teachers and students on the success of the fest, and assured that many more of such opportunities will be presented to the children in the future.
