Spell Wizard Contest 2019

October, 2019: The Spell Wizard Contest was organized on three different levels – School-level, Block-level and District-level in Shimla. Around 100 Government Schools including partnering Schools under the SSatya Bharti Quality Support Program, actively participated in the competition.

The Schools then competed against each other to qualify for the second stage which was the Block-level competition. The shortlisted Schools were then divided into three centers – Phagli center, Chhota Shimla center and Lakkar Bazar center to secure their positions  for the District-level competition.

The District Level Spell Wizard contest was held on 24 Oct. at GMSSS Shoghi, where DPO cum Principal DIET chaired the event as the Chief Guest and the Jury members – Ms. Vandana Bhardwaj (SPD office), Ms. Renubala (SPD office) Mr. Neeraj Mahajan (DIET) assessed the student’s performance to finalize the winners.

This was first time when such event was organized in the state Himachal Pradesh which was received well by the schools and appreciated well by SPD office, DIET and the media too.

Job Description Academic Mentor

  • To support School Heads / Principals and strengthen the curriculum planning, delivery and class room transaction process for improved effectiveness.
  • To optimize usage and improvement of school’s infrastructure and facilities especially working toilets, functional library, computer labs, Science labs and energized classrooms.
  • To activate critical processes such as sports, drawing and other student cantered activities and events.
  • To smoothen academic operations throughout the year and also non-academic operations viz sports day, annual day, republic day, community volunteering, PTM etc.
  • To support teachers through interactive sessions.
  • To conduct subject wise week in schools for Science, English and Math linked with the annual curriculum.
  • To extend technical support to teachers on subject specific skills.
  • To support on difficult concepts and conduct specific need-based refresher training.
  • To extending support in planning the entire academic year including curriculum rollout, remedial, assessments and processes for ongoing monitoring and mentoring.
  • Candidates should aware about local language.
