Afsana Khatun

We know that every activity in school life plays a significant role in holistic development of a student. Co-curricular activities are an essential part of a child’s school life and helps in enhancing learning process of students at school.

Afsana Khatun was enrolled in Satya Bharti School, Patkeldanga in the year of 2015. Her father is a daily wage farmer and her mother is the house-maker. Afsana Khatun used to be a very reserved child. She always chose to sit on the last bench.

One day, the pre-primary teacher noticed Afsana doing a recitation alone on the last bench during mid-day-meal time while other students were playing. When she was asked where she had learnt the piece from, she said that she had been observing a senior student practicing it during assembly hours. Appreciating her keen interest in recitation, she was encouraged to pursue it further by learning voice modulation.

The following year, when Afsana was promoted to Class 1, her Bengali teacher Ms Aradhana Mondal started taking her recitation classes and rehearsal sessions. In the year 2016, when she made her first attempt at recitation in front of the School, she was nervous and made mistakes as well. But she was determined to work harder and achieve what she had aspired on. She didn’t lose hope and give up; in fact, she was further encouraged to dedicate more of her time to her passion. The next year, she participated in various recitation events and received a lot of appreciation as well. She also partook in ‘Block Yuva Utsab’ and bagged the Second position out of the 97 participants.

During the following year, she participated in many events like ‘Sagardighi Book Fair Recitation Competition, Block Yuva Utsab, Sagardighi Club Competition’ etc. and won the 2nd, 3rd and 1st position respectively. In 2019, she has taken the responsibility of helping the lower classes learn recitation with Aradhana Mondal. She has become a role model for many of her fellow students.

Someday, she aspires to become a professor of Bengali literature someday.

Job Description Academic Mentor

  • To support School Heads / Principals and strengthen the curriculum planning, delivery and class room transaction process for improved effectiveness.
  • To optimize usage and improvement of school’s infrastructure and facilities especially working toilets, functional library, computer labs, Science labs and energized classrooms.
  • To activate critical processes such as sports, drawing and other student cantered activities and events.
  • To smoothen academic operations throughout the year and also non-academic operations viz sports day, annual day, republic day, community volunteering, PTM etc.
  • To support teachers through interactive sessions.
  • To conduct subject wise week in schools for Science, English and Math linked with the annual curriculum.
  • To extend technical support to teachers on subject specific skills.
  • To support on difficult concepts and conduct specific need-based refresher training.
  • To extending support in planning the entire academic year including curriculum rollout, remedial, assessments and processes for ongoing monitoring and mentoring.
  • Candidates should aware about local language.
