The Change Agents of Jamuwa

One of the partner Government Schools of the Satya Bharti Quality Support Program, the Utkramit Madhya Vidhyalaya, Jamuwa is located around 12 kilometres from the Sadar Prakhand head office. The school, upon first look, seemed to be in a state of ruin with only one teacher and an enrolment of about 210 students, where even the bare minimum facilities were lacking.

Mr. Sudisht Prasad, the school head, had a lot of plans for the school that he desired to implement after being posted. However, as soon as he saw the facilities – or the lack thereof, he was disappointed. Bharti Foundation urged him to not lose confidence in his dreams and that he would receive full support in accomplishing his plans.

Bharti Foundation with the help of the School and Community Leaders, took necessary actions to ensure high enrolment. The Foundation went from home to home with the representatives of the community and convinced all the families to send their children to the village school. During this period, three more teachers were appointed.

The hard work paid off and soon, many children joined the School. A beautiful garden has also been maintained in the school and Bharti Foundation has donated about 35 different trees to the cause and the school has been taken through to the Green School Audit Programme. A classroom for weak students of classes 2-5 was also added, along with the facilities of clubs and houses for both curricular and co-curricular development.

Soon after, the students of Utkramit Madhya Vidyalaya were selected for the National-level School Enterprise Challenge where they competed with the business idea – Khaali samay mein kharaab kagaz se aay karna.

The School family talks about their school with pride now. They are now happily studying in a school with the facilities that they dreamed of, now turned to reality. They talk about Utkramit Madhya Vidyalaya – ‘The Village School’.

Job Description Academic Mentor

  • To support School Heads / Principals and strengthen the curriculum planning, delivery and class room transaction process for improved effectiveness.
  • To optimize usage and improvement of school’s infrastructure and facilities especially working toilets, functional library, computer labs, Science labs and energized classrooms.
  • To activate critical processes such as sports, drawing and other student cantered activities and events.
  • To smoothen academic operations throughout the year and also non-academic operations viz sports day, annual day, republic day, community volunteering, PTM etc.
  • To support teachers through interactive sessions.
  • To conduct subject wise week in schools for Science, English and Math linked with the annual curriculum.
  • To extend technical support to teachers on subject specific skills.
  • To support on difficult concepts and conduct specific need-based refresher training.
  • To extending support in planning the entire academic year including curriculum rollout, remedial, assessments and processes for ongoing monitoring and mentoring.
  • Candidates should aware about local language.
