Awareness through Education

Cleanliness, sanitation and hygiene education has been an integral part of the Satya Bharti School curriculum since its inception. The various interventions not only focus on upgrading student knowledge, but also contribute towards developing positive attitude and behavioral practices towards personal hygiene and hygiene practices in schools, home, and community at public places. Through these interventions our students take their learnings beyond school and influence the mindset and practices among the immediate community thus contributing towards a clean India.

Education Interventions Taken by Bharti Foundation on Sanitation and Hygiene:

  • School level processes like housekeeping, hygiene, health management, waste management
  • Theme based discussions, speeches and debates during Bal Sabhas and Morning assemblies
  • Students as cleanliness ambassadors in every school
  • Student led social campaigns, community level interventions focused around cleanliness, hygiene education, health & safety, and environment protection
  • Developing IEC material (Posters, Banners, Wall Paintings)
  • Songs, skits, dances, around the various themes of sanitation and hygiene
  • Special theme based school and community level celebrations, throughout the year e.g. National Cleanliness Day, World Water Day, World Earth Day, World Environment Day, World Ozone Day, Global Hand Washing Day, World Toilet Day, International Biodiversity Day etc.
  • Advocacy with the local government bodies and encouraging community members to take advantage of various government initiatives.

Some of the above good practices from the Satya Bharti Schools are now being also implemented in various Government Schools through the Satya Bharti Quality Support Program. The students in the Government Schools are empowered to take up sanitation and hygiene education initiatives through formation of Student Clubs and house activities.
