The Satya Bharti Elementary Schools (up to Class VIII) came into being in FY 2010-11 to act as a bridge between the Primary and the Senior Secondary Schools and ensured that children did not have to travel long distances to access quality education post the primary level. Currently, 30 of the 173 operational Satya Bharti Schools are designated elementary schools in Punjab and Rajasthan.
Like the primary schools, the Satya Bharti Elementary Schools provide bright and comfortable spaces that promote learning, with all classrooms having natural light and ventilation. Each school has been provided with water and electricity connections. Provision of separate and clean toilets for boys and girls addresses one of the largest impediments in attendance of girls. In addition to a teacher’s blackboard, the classrooms also have small blackboards adjacent to the children’s seating spaces, allowing them to express their thoughts and ideas through the day. The classrooms at the schools have been designed to facilitate group sitting arrangements, to aid learning practices.
The curriculum followed in the schools are replete with the best practices from curricular structures followed in schools across the country and is in essence a child-centric, holistic, pragmatic, value-based academic program. It is also integrated with community campaigns, which helps children in developing life-skills as well as critical and creative thinking skills through hands-on experiences.
