AMRITPAL

“Whatever I am today, I owe it to my school and to my teachers. Like me, hundreds of boys and girls who starved for knowledge, travelled a long distance to reach school every day. Some even travelled for 12 kms (one side) on a bicycle. Many of our parents haven’t stepped in a school. Education is therefore sacred for us, and our teachers have always been there- not to just give us knowledge of books, but beyond – from moral support to building our confidence, instilling values and more. “

“When I scored 90% in class 12, it brought a lot of pride to my parents and teachers. I feel every child in my village deserves a chance to grow up, be able to read and write, and become doctors, engineers and teachers. Every evening, after my college, I teach students who are first in their families to be getting an education. I just want to give these children all the knowledge that I have by teaching them the way I was taught by my hard-working teachers.”
