The Educational Rockstars of Tamil Nadu!

September, 2020: A teacher plants the seed of knowledge and curiosity into the minds of their students, and nurtures it with an admirable effort. While a teacher shapes a child’s future in numerous ways, they take the credit for much less. To recognise the consistent and continuous actions of every teacher in ensuring the good of the society, Bharti Foundation introduced the Satya Bharti Educational Rockstar Achievers (SBERA) Awards.

This year, the virtual SBERA Awards witnessed participation from hundreds of teachers from different Satya Bharti Schools, who have proved that every teacher holds the power to bring about an impactful transformation that can reach out to masses.

Under the category of the Teachers’ Subject Knowledge Test (TSKT) of SBERA Awards 2020, Ms. A. Alamu from Pethanandhal, Sivaganga, Tamil Nadu, bagged the Primary and Elementary Subject Topper Award for his excellent performance in Tamil Subject Paper.

A new category of Awards was introduced this year to acknowledge the relentless efforts of the teachers who worked hard to ensure that their communities are aware and prepared against the on-going pandemic. The Gold Teachers’ Changemaker Award 2020 for ‘Service to the community during COVID-19’ was awarded to Ms. P. Periyananyaki (Officiating Head Teacher – Satya Bharti Nursery and Primary School, Pethadikuchiruppu, Sivaganga, Tamil Nadu) for prevention of outbreak through distribution of masks and safety kits.

Ms. Periyanayaki demonstrated great resolve and selflessness when she used her personal resources to provide safety kits to children and their families in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, which had a huge positive impact on her community. She decided on using her tailoring skills and the material available with her to sew masks for over 230 people. She also took the opportunity to aware people about the coronavirus. It is because of teachers like P. Periyananyaki and A. Alamu that it can be concluded with certainty that a teacher doesn’t limit her role to disseminating knowledge; a teacher also safeguards the future of the nation in many different ways.

Job Description Academic Mentor

  • To support School Heads / Principals and strengthen the curriculum planning, delivery and class room transaction process for improved effectiveness.
  • To optimize usage and improvement of school’s infrastructure and facilities especially working toilets, functional library, computer labs, Science labs and energized classrooms.
  • To activate critical processes such as sports, drawing and other student cantered activities and events.
  • To smoothen academic operations throughout the year and also non-academic operations viz sports day, annual day, republic day, community volunteering, PTM etc.
  • To support teachers through interactive sessions.
  • To conduct subject wise week in schools for Science, English and Math linked with the annual curriculum.
  • To extend technical support to teachers on subject specific skills.
  • To support on difficult concepts and conduct specific need-based refresher training.
  • To extending support in planning the entire academic year including curriculum rollout, remedial, assessments and processes for ongoing monitoring and mentoring.
  • Candidates should aware about local language.
