The Teacher Changemakers of West Bengal

September, 2020: “A good teacher can inspire hope, ignite the imagination and instil a love of learning” – Brad Henry

Indeed, every teacher is bringing about a transformation in the world we are living in, one day at a time. When a teacher delivers a lesson in the classroom, she is not just disseminating knowledge; she is nurturing wisdom, she is encouraging curiosity, she is inculcating principles into every mind.

To celebrate the spirit of every relentless effort made by the teachers of the Satya Bharti Schools, Bharti Foundation organised the Satya Bharti Educational Rockstar Achievers (SBERA) Awards 2020. This year, the annual event was organised on the occasion of Teachers’ Day, virtually. The event recognised and acknowledged the noble deeds of the teachers who have been working relentlessly, beyond their call of duty, in providing support to rural children with their consistent work and their creativity which knows no boundaries.

The first category under the SBERA Awards was the Teachers’ Subject Knowledge Test (TSKT) Awards which were given out to the Satya Bharti Teachers who went beyond their scope of work to embellish their subject knowledge. Under the Primary and Elementary Category of the TSKT Awards, Ms. Sumima Rehman from the Satya Bharti School, Chargachi, Murshidabad, West Bengal bagged the award for Bengali-language Paper.

Teachers are the backbone of our initiative and are instrumental in bringing about a transformation by going above and beyond their call of duty to help underprivileged children realize their dreams. Many organisations recognize the efforts of the teachers who do such amazing work in pedagogical segments. One such award is the Zero Investment Innovation for Education Initiatives (ZIIEI) Award. It is a National-level teacher outreach initiative by the Shri Aurobindo society which aims to empower teachers to drive learning process through Zero Investments Innovations. Md. Nazrul Islam from the Satya Bharti School, Patkeldanga, Murshidabad, West Bengal has been presented with the ZIIEI Award 2020, which was felicitated by HRD Minister Mr. Ramesh Pohkriyal “Nishank” for Innovation Idea.

Bharti Foundation takes proud in presenting the winners of the SBERA Awards 2020 and congratulates them on having accomplished another milestone.
