The period of lockdown brought about several changes in the way everything and everyone operated. Amidst this scenario, Satya Bharti Schools took several initiatives to digitize education, so as not to hamper the learning and development curve of the students. The head teachers and teachers adapted virtual modes of teaching and also used these media for guiding students about the safety norms that need to be adhered to during the outbreak of COVID 19. The teachers also encouraged the children to take initiatives to contribute their bit into saving the environment.
This year, at the Satya Bharti Schools, Punjab, the 74th Independence Day was celebrated with equal fervor and enthusiasm. Since the schools are closed down, the usual celebrations, performances, gatherings and flag hosting could not glorify the occasion. However, this Independence Day, a virtual connect was initiated with the students to run a Plantation Drive from home. The students were encouraged to plant at least one tree at home.
Bharti Foundation’s district team outlined this activity and connected with the Head Teachers, who then disseminated the campaign ideas to all the teaching staff of the schools. The initiative was commenced with all the government safety guidelines in place where the students partook in the activity following every mandatory measure such as social distancing and washing hands, etc. Students were asked to stay within their premises and not engage in the task in groups.
The initiative began on the morning of 15th August, 2020 where children symbolized their patriotism by taking a step forward to make the nation clean and green. They enthusiastically participated in the activity, clicking a lot of pictures and sharing them with their teachers. Till the evening, the students flooded their class WhatsApp groups with many pictures with planted saplings and faces full of happiness and energy. By the end of the day, the total count of the number of trees planted was estimated around 1365.
